Can you drive the car while making the hardtop roofs on the new convertibles go down?

With the new cars such as the BMW 3 series and the Infiniti G37 hardtop convertibles, you can make the hardtop go down but can you do it while driving? Lets say your on the highway and your top is down and all of a sudden it starts pouring. Can you make top go back up or do you have to slow down and stop? Also, is there something stopping you from driving while the hardtop goes up or down? Thanks
